Ms. Nelson was born in Madison, Wisconsin. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree with concentration in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her Juris Doctor degree from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois.

Ms. Nelson concentrates her practice in the defense of Workers' Compensation matters and Employment related claims. She also conducts real estate transfers.

As a skilled litigator, Ms. Nelson has extensive trial experience before the Illinois Industrial Commission. She has also presented numerous oral arguments to the Circuit Court of Illinois and Illinois Appellate Court. She has experience in the investigation and defense of all aspects of workers' compensation claims, including but not limited to complex cases involving asbestos related exposure, heart attack, psychological distress and death.

While attending The John Marshall Law School, Ms. Nelson was employed by an international insurance company as a workers' compensation adjuster. Responsible for all aspects of investigation, including in-person claimant interviews, on-site information gathering and settlement of high exposure cases, Ms. Nelson has first hand knowledge of the claims handling process. She has given seminars (formal and informal) which pertain to goal oriented claims handling and the investigation of workers' compensation cases. She was also an active member of the Workers Compensation Claims Association and the Casualty Adjusters' Claims Association.

Ms. Nelson is admitted to practice law in the State of Illinois and before the United States District Court in the Northern District of Illinois. She has also applied for admission to the Bar in the state of Wisconsin. Ms. Nelson serves as an arbitrator in the Cook County Mandatory Arbitration Program. Her professional affiliations include The Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association and the Northwest Suburban Bar Association. Ms. Nelson is actively involved in the Workers' Compensation Lawyers Association.
